MTL won't take Barrie unless one of Hoffman or Armia is going to Edmonton.

The value is fine, but I don't see the point. Foegle would just be another depth player clogging up the roster. Unless Detroit can add a legit star player via a trade, we're better off promoting from within.

I might be one of the few OTT fans in favour of moving Connor Brown this off-season. He's in the final year of his deal and realistically OTT should not be extending him unless he's taking a real hometown discount. We'll be up against the cap sooner than we think. That said, I think there's a better deal to be made with a contending team with a closing window - especially if OTT is willing to retain 1/2 of Brown's hit in the trade. I'm looking at Fiala (with OTT adding Jarventie and a 2nd) or maybe even a straight swap for DeBrusk.

We've lost Namestnikov and likely also Gagner and we'd very much like to get rid of Erne.

Foegele scores almost as much as Fabbri (5-on-5 per 60) and he's way better defensively and would easily be our best both in takeaways and in TA/GA difference (beating Suter by 0.2 per 60) and he's a very good hitter. Foegele scores 50% more than Zadina.

Foegele would probably slot in as 2RW on our roster and with the uncertainty surrounding Fabbri's health I see this trade as a bargain for what we're paying. The only player we have that will demand a roster spot next season is Berggren and he won't slot in higher than third line anyway.

We would be icing a 2nd line of Vrána - Copp/Strome - Foegele and a 3rd line of Zadina - Suter/Veleno - Berggren.

Copp and Strome are considerably better than Foegle. Want to add one of them? Sure. Also, I highly suspect they will re-sign Gagne.

Foegle is fine, I just don't see how he adds any different dynamic to our team, which badly needs it. We have too many of the same kind of player as it is.

We really don't have many players like him. The vast majority of our players have way more giveaways than takeaways, that's a very sure indication of a lack of both puckhandling skills as well as bad decision making. There are only a total of five players in Detroit with a positive TA/GA-difference and three of those are 4th-liners (Rasmussen, Erne, and Gagner). Only two players with any kind of offensive capability are in this group (Veleno and Suter).

A player that can break an attack by our opponents and turn the play in the opposite direction is something that we sorely miss in our lineup. Winning puck-battles and turning defense into offense is the biggest weakness this team has. Foegele is great at doing just that.

Marcus Pettersson is another player that also is great at controlling the puck and stripping opponents of it. We need loads more players with those kind's of abilities. (Pettersson has three times as many takeaways as giveaways.)

I just had a quick look at the NYR roster (the tab happened to be open already) and the players on that team with positive TA/GA-difference are; Zac Jones, Adam Fox, Lafreniere, Zibanejad, K'Andre Miller, Gauthier, McKegg, Goodrow, Hunt, Rooney, Kakko, Motte, Vatrano, Brodzinski. Do you see a pattern?

Detroit's biggest need to fix in that area, is on defense, not up front. That NY list is skewed, because you have several players that have a small sample size, as they are not everyday players. Of the everyday players, 2 of the 8 every day players you listed in that Rangers list, are defensemen and impact ones at that. 0 of the 5 players for Detroit, are defensemen.

Once again, I'm not saying Foegle is bad, I would just MUCH rather they add significant, impact players up front, or promote within. Adding a depth style player, just ends up being more of the same.

The biggest area they need to fix TA/GA differential, is on defense, not up front (NY only has 6 forwards on that list to Detroit's 5 as far as everyday players, so that's damn near a push)
