New Sharks GM Roadmap with Big Moves and Getting Younger While Trying to Win Now

Description
Starts with clearing out both Burns and Vlasic.

Vlasic can't/won't be moved so a buy out here is in order. He's not terrible, his contract is too expensive by about 5mil. and should have 1 more year on it instead of 4. If SJ doesn't sign Tierney and brings up Weatherby/Reedy instead, you can keep Vlasic and buy him out the following season where his buyout will be less impactful on the team's cap.

Burns still has value if there's retention on his contract. I can see him getting moved to Dallas where he has a ranch and spends his summers while also being reunited with Pavelski who make up the dynamic duo team of shots from the point being tipped in for goals. He also replaces Klingberg here. Can still play a ton of minutes -- literally played half the game for some of this season -- so the age thing isn't a factor here unless there's some unexpected massive dropoff, but Burns is the kind of guy that keeps himself in tip-top shape and I easily see this working out for both him and Dallas. Sharks just need a change and commit to Merkley taking over Burns' role for good from next season on out.

Marchment and Nichushkin are terrific commitments for the Sharks to pursue. Both are heavy but skilled players who can really have the best possible impact for the Sharks in the middle-6 as they try to establish their own game instead of playing a defensive-style game. Strome and Tierney add the quality center depth to make this team competitive.

Simply replacing big contracts with slightly less big contracts doesn't solve anything

Forgot to add the 'anywhere' clause, didn't necessarily settle on DET.

^ That's contract-ist. Not all big contracts are bad. It's a necessary part of building a competitive team.

Arizona does not pay to take our cap dumps, Simek alone would cost a 4th just to move him, and Labanc is almost unmovable at this time after his disastrous season.
best case i would pair Balcers with Simek and deal them both to Arizona (Balcers as a sweetener for Arizona to take on Simek)
and hope Labanc can rebound next year so we can either trade him at the deadline or that he becomes valuable to us again enough to keep.

Bonino is a better/ cheaper option for 4c than Tierney.
Strome is a dangerous signing as i think he is more a product of his wings than an actually play pusher, better option would be to get a young prospect to fill the 3C like Reedy or Bordeleau, but i could be wrong here.
Marchment I like picking him up if we don't sign Dahlen. big strong wing to support our smaller forwards.
Nichushkin i would say is an either or with Marchment sign one not both.
and if this is the lineup were in risk of losing Meier as we wont have enough space next season to resign him.

We would be better offensively but maybe weaker D wise (Burns isn't the best D but he is decent in his own zone and still a top 15 point producer)
still this would probably be a playoff team but not sure we go very deep.
bunnymcfoo a aimé ceci.

You are making the same mistakes all over again. That strome contract takes him past 35 years old.

Yea, had to make it a lot lengthier to justify the 5mil aav cap hit instead of what I think he'll make with 6mil aav over 5 years probably.

NHL leader in blocked shots, teams were calling for him at the TDL, shutdown 4th line center. Consistently pots 10+ goals every season. Not necessarily PITT -- add a caveat of 'anywhere' for Bonino too.
