stil makes the playoffs the others would not

You think florida wouldn’t? The team thats running away with the hardest division in hockey?

Explain the logic here. You’re saying that the leafs, who are 8 points back of florida, would make the playoffs without their best player. But florida, who is 8 points up on toronto, wouldn’t make the playoffs without their, “best,” player?

How on earth does that make any sense?

Then why huberdeau over matthews?

But while we’re on the topic, why is this always the discussion? Why are we supposed to pick some guy that was on a team that should have finished 20th, but he dragged them to a 15th place finish, just to be cannon fodder in the first round. We’ll call it the Taylor hall MVP. Why is bringing a bad team to an okay team better than bringing a good team to a really good team. I’ll give it to shesterkin, because he’s almost single handedly brought an mediocre-bad team to a pretty good team.

All that being said, my primary argument was matthews over huberdeau, and i still don’t see why you have it the other way around.

I put huberdeau over matthews due to the fact that he has out scored his nearest teammate by almost 30 points. While Matthews is only 7 up on marner. history shows when you have good team mates playing with you it actualy works against you. like Mcdavid and DRi or Crosby and Malkin just how it works unless you show a huge separation like 30 points above that other star player.

IMO the trophy criteria should be redone to maybe the Most Outstanding Player vs The most valuable to his team.... unfortunatley it is the latter which leans towards josi or Shesterkin

where as if you go most our standing it leans toward MAtthews for impressive goals Mcdavid for points hell even markstrom with 9 shutouts..

This is just wild to me. All of a sudden huberdeau gets 28 secondary assists, and we’re all supposed to forget about one of the best goal scoring seasons of the century. Madness.

Uh. No. I’m sure i put this in one of my previous posts. As it stands today, with 54 goals in 65 games, matthews has the 6th best goal scoring total this century.

Just for reference -
Two goals gets him to fourth.
Five gets him to third, currently occupied by freaking pavel bure.
Six gets him to second.
11 gets him to first.

None of the players ahead of him were fantastic defensively. Matthews is.

And two games later…..
Matthews is alone in fourth place for the best goal total of this century.
He’s one behind bure for third.
Two behind stamkos for second.
Seven behind ovechkin for first.
