Doubt it, teams cant afford to offer Johnny more than 70M in the flat cap so Johnny probably gets either 68-72M on an 8 year deal with the Flames

Yeah total value of a contract is a fair point and I agree that a team *probably* won't offer him more then 10x7.
But your point does neglect the length of each contract, in which on an 8 year he has to work a year longer for that full value.
Hope you're right though. Calgarys going to need all the space they can gey.

He will still get paid even if he LTIR's the last year.
