Description

Benning's done a number on us. This team was on fire until the last three games. I'm not saying we're legit cup contenders, but this core is solid, and we finally have a GM and coach who can get us to the next level. Blowing it up is not the answer right now.

Unless Boeser wants to take a discount, which I doubt, then trade him for a top 4 RHD. Not sure what Marino's availability is, but this would be the kind of deal I'd be looking for. We get a partner for Hughes and a cheaper RW, PIT gets a cheaper RHD and a bona fide top-line RW to play with Sid.

Domi's value has tanked in CLB, here he gets a one-year prove-it deal. If we're good, we keep him for the playoffs. If not, trade him to a contender at the deadline.

Boeser isn’t a bonafide top line winger. Plus Sid already has two of those already. Nor do the pens have the cap space to even think about Boeser. Marino is the only top 4 RHD they have signed after this year. The difference between Marino and Schenn is way bigger than the difference between Boeser and Kapanen. Marino was never for sale cause the organization values him highly.

Disagree with your assessment of Boeser, but everything else makes sense. I put this specific deal down because Marino to VAN was rumoured a week ago, but Boeser for a top-four RHD is really the gist of it. I'd definitely see us adding picks in this specific case, too. Are you guys not going to re-sign Letang? I figured that was the plan and so Marino might be the odd man out.

I don't think you're getting Marino for Boeser, but overall I like the philosophy.
