Description

The goal of this 3rd roster attempt was to be somewhat aggressive on a few 30+ UFAs to get more Vet D leadership in the lockerroom and to build out a "4th" line that could compete as a 3rd line if necessary and with players who could play up the lineup when injuries strike and/or kids struggle.

I made a mistake, The better draft pick was supposed to be coming to Buffalo for taking the cap dump and giving up a player with control. The picks are now correct in a 3rd in 2022 to Buffalo for Buffalo's 5th in 2023

I still would not do it. Seems like poor asset management to trade a young player in our biggest position of need (RHD) for a 1 year vet rental and a 2 round pick upgrade. I would take Eller and pay a 4th or 5th for him, but I would not trade Fitz for him

Fitz is really a JAG. He at best is a cheap depth D-man, but he’s easily upgraded by what this team truly needs is a good Veteran RHD to mentor the kids like Samuelsson and Power while providing on ice and off ice leadership. Think Teppo Numminen back in the day. That’s where Cole and Ruuta come in. If we get those kind of players, moving Fitz to help fill another need should be considered.
