I'm a firm believer that the Jets need to keep Dillion around, we need more guys like him, not less. Also, IF the Jets were to move him I would hope it would be for at least what we paid, 2nd rounders.

I could also see Dillon getting two 2nd rounders but also remember, he is 31 years old now (teams may be worried of a decline)

Did you steal that Dillon idea from me? Lol.
Some Jets fans want to keep Dillon but I’d accept. Someone needs to move and I think Samberg can replicate what he brings for much cheaper.

He would be a good pick up and Muzzin replacement and Dillon has experience playing on the right side so that when Muzzin returns to playoffs, Holl is a healthy scratch

Nope from Winnipeg. The Jets need Dillon far more than a couple of late picks.

No one is overpaying for a 31 year old veteran defensemen, Leafs easily decline if Jets want more

They also need to clear some cap and make room for Samberg and Heinola. I don’t see deMelo or Schmidt being moved so Dillon would be the odd man out and easiest of the LHD to be moved, unless one or both of JoMo or Heinola were moved as a package for a bigger piece like a #1 D

True, but that can be done in the summer. There's no reason for Winnipeg to do Toronto a favour and accept a lowball offer at the TDL for two low picks next year.

If the Jets do what they should and make changes in the off season with coaching and a new team direction, some of these player issues may work themselves out with guys that aren't on board, so hanging onto Dillon until everything shakes out is probably the best bet. The Jets would be able to get a low value return like this fairly easily, so there's no reason you rush it.

If Toronto wants to pay a lowball price as proposed here, let them go dumpster diving for defensive help.

We are definitely thinking along the same lines with coaching, systems, leadership and such.
I think that it will be a buyers market this TDL. It seems it will be flush with players available. Jets clear out 4M in cap, free up a spot for Samberg or Heinola and get back a a few picks. People have been making the comparison of Chia and Dillon returning a 1st and I don’t think it happens. If it does, great, but I’m not holding my breath.

But yes, all new coaching staff, new systems, new leadership including pulling the Cs and As. Time to make fundamental changes.

Yup, we're pretty much in agreement. I just wouldn't give Dillon away for two picks a year away. If they were higher picks I could understand waiting. But when it's a lower than bare minimum offer, I hope the Jets just wait it out. The Jets don't need Dillon's cap space this year and are better off keeping Heinola and Samberg away from this season's crap show as much as possible and bring them in next season.

You would also know that next seasons draft is deeper than this season's draft
