1. Chychrun deal is a big payment for a very good player that solidifies the LD during this contention window
2. Braun gives that snarl and grit that the playoffs love. He's a good shutdown guy and shouldn't cost too much (rumoured price was a 2nd?)
3. Lines 2-4 are shuffled to create a cycle line, a speed line, and a shutdown line. The fourth line as it's currently configured isn't getting much done. Willy and JT aren't really clicking. One is a cycle guy, the other is about rush chances. Let's lean into their identities. Double shift Willy with JT to give him more minutes if you like. Kampf can handle shutdown minutes, as can the top line.
4. We still have 2M to shore up goaltending or offensive depth if we like. If the price for Braun is too high, pretend we kept Dermott and our cap space is 500k instead, or add some retained salary to Braun. Whatever.
