Description
Koskinen and Turris are just salary fillers and teams will be ok to take them to the end of season since they are out of playoffs anyways. Its a means to facilitate a trade and we have paid extra. Varlamov should only get a 2nd - for taking on Koskinen you get a 1st. Braun only gets a 4th/5th but for taking on Turris, you get a 3rd.

If the ARZ deal feels light, we may be able to toss in Samorukov as well. I think there are teams that ARZ can flip Barrie to for a couple of 2nd rounders no matter how bad he is on defence. There's always value for puck moving RHD don't kid yourselves.

To recoup picks for the draft, I'd trade Smith, Marody, Benson for some 3rds, 4ths, etc.

We only make the NYI and ARZ deal if they happen at the same time. There's no point of doing either without the other. If we are going for it, we need a bonafide top 4 D and a starting calibre goalie. Without one or the other, we won't go far anyways.

I like the Philly deal.
Both the other trades I don’t see how can do it mid season both seem like offseason moves. Both involve adding term to a position can’t really afford to be adding term to. If just one of Keith or klef is back next year that left side is insanely costly. I can buy into one of them retire but both is a very risky gamble.

Yeah I'd really hope Keith retires next year. He's only due like 1.5M - maybe we can pay him to retire or get an "allergy" LOL. They've practically confirmed Klefbom is never coming back. His contract on LTIR is just a formality at this point.

The NYI one I can see happen - 1) they're not in a playoff spot, 2) there will probably be less of a need for EDM to trade for a goalie in the summer than there is at the TDL. Yes they can trade Varlamov somewhere else, but they probably won't get a 1st rounder.

ARZ one is the one least likely to happen in season which means there is no point of doing the NYI one either.

With klef I have no idea if he will attempt a return or not only can say he was expected to miss the entire season so not hearing or seeing anything of him doesn’t mean he’s had any set backs or anything of that nature could be progressing really well for all we know. Until it’s official it’s extremely risky to invest anymore into that left side.
