Description
Just trying to gauge where the Flames are at, both in how the team views him and what possible trade value would be expected to be. I can't say that I've watched him much either, so a little bit of explanation on his type of game would be appreciated as well :) I just feel like his physical traits (LHD with size) fits what LA is looking for and wouldn't likely cost the exorbitant amount that Arizona is asking for Chychrun.

What's the cost? Are Flames looking for more NHL players to add for their playoff run, or are they looking to start adding some draft capital with only 4 picks in the coming draft?

Also, I guess I should have asked this question to start: Are the Flames even willing to think about trading him? It just doesn't look like he's getting much of an opportunity with Calgary.

Don't think he is traded because you look at the Kylington situation and I don't think the Flames give up on any you D man that's under performing at this point. Give him time, he's missed nearly a full season of games with serious injuries to body parts that are notoriously awful to injure for a hockey player. That paired with Covid and a team that refuses to either go all in or all out creates a scenario where Valimaki has not played nearly enough, they will ride him out until they can't any more though.
My favourite wrinkle in the story is the Sutter family dynamic, Valimaki has had a couple run ins with Brett Sutter in the AHL this season, fought him and got hurt by him, how do you approach that when your kid is ringing the bell of one of your prospects in the AHL?! Marek and Friedman talked about it in the article below!
