Description

Stone and Martinez are on LTIR.
They would need to trade someone or send someone down if they were to be able to activate Martinez. If they were to send down someone like Brett Howden or Mikey Amadio I think they would have to clear waivers and there is no guarantee that they will. I think Stone will be out until the playoffs which is good and bad for Vegas. Good in that they would not have to worry as much with cap issues unless key players get hurt, but also bad as Stone is obviously a key part in both the offensive side and the defensive side of the game. Vegas is trying to go all in this year. The problem is that they haven't been fantastic this year. This year in terms of Vegas standards has been a "down year". They still are likely going to make the playoffs, but this has been a disappointment for Vegas.

Why would they ever waive (and essentially give away a young player playing really well for free) Brett Howden to keep Michael Amadio?

This is like a tell me you haven't watched Vegas without telling me you haven't watched Vegas thing.

More to the point, they could probably just put Patrick on LTIR as he's almost surely not coming back for at least 24 days after that MacKinnon hit to the head.

Moot points however as it seems Lehner will be back before Martinez, or Patrick, and they can just send down Thompson. Whitecloud is also probably tracking back quicker than Martinez, which would allow them to waive a defenseman, if needed.

I think they would trade Coghlan for a late round pick or waive him instead of waiving Howden. Howden has played well on the 4th line. But I think Nolan Patrick will go on LTIR. He should really think if he wants to continue playing the way he gets concussions. He could have so many problems later in life.
