Until he is signed long-term prior to deadline as a UFA, he is a potential rental with Columbus on the outside of the playoffs.

That would cost so much more and can't afford him unless Gaudreau signs somewhere else, or another defenseman is traded. Which I hope does not happen.

Well Phillips is 23 and has played 1 game in the NHL, doesn’t seem like he’ll be anything more than a bottom 6 winger. Also a 1st would be a necessity.

Calgary doesn’t have the prospect Dallas would want (Zary too high, Ruzicka too low). Maybe Ruzicka would be the most likely, but high picks (not a first) would need to be added to cover the lack of the prospect. Maybe a conditional 3rd that turns into a 2nd if Calgary wins a playoff round.

This was a shot in the dark for an amazing depth defenseman. And a pure rental as no way Calgary can keep him. I tried and you are probably right, there is no fit.

Jenner has a 4 year extension with Columbus and loves it there, he won’t be traded even if this is a massive overpayment.

Roslovic is from Columbus, and would be a good 2-3c for the future, even though it’s not “clicking” for him he’s still on pace to pass his high in Winnipeg of 29 points in 71 games, hes at 20 in 48 currently. I get he hasn’t been what was expected after last season, but he’s only 25. Last time Columbus gave up on a mid 20s center he went and had 78 points in 82 games the next season.
