I'm not saying the value is bad, but why is NSH who already has Josi and Ekholm on the left side trading for Chychrun? For the kind of assets they're sending here they could upgrade the top six, instead of the 3rd pair.

Adds flexibility to D-core and Dzingel has more scoring upside on NSH 2nd line than Nick Cousins. Who do you think this value would get.. Kessel? No way ARZ moves Keller right?

Chychrun would be fun to have, but NSH's top four is already locked in for the future. He's just too expensive (both his cap hit, and the acquisition price) for a team with two long term, significant players already on the left side. Borowiecki's been having a solid season on the 3rd pair. I wouldn't be shocked if he got re-signed to a one year deal in the summer. NSH also has Davies, Farrance and Del Gaizo coming up soon, so there's lots of options for that roster spot.

I don't know that Dzingel has much more upside than Cousins, but I don't see either being a 2nd line solution. I thought you were bringing in Dzingel to replace McCarron on the 4th line.

I'd be surprised if ARZ made Keller available, but this could be enough for him. It's way too much for a rental Kessel. I think NSH could get a much higher end rental forward for this kind of return. Giroux, Pavelski, even Hertl (if he's available) could presumably be had for less than this. In Hertl's case, I think SJ would be interested in prospects other than Afanasyev or Myers though. I think centers are their biggest need.

I actually like the Preds attempting to get Jarnkrok back for that 4C spot, and for SJ would Cody Glass be a name that interests them

I don't mind the deal, but it feels like the Preds are stuck in mediocrity right now. I don't know if giving up some of our future is enough to warrant Chychrun and Dzingel joining the roster. I just don't think they'll be enough to get the Preds over the hump.

Jarnkrok wouldn't be the worst there. Personally I'd like to grab Stastny for 4C at the deadline, if he's cheap. I don't know if Sj would be interested in Glass. NSH keeping him down in MIL all season likely hurts his value in a trade.
