The players don't really carry any value here. Jost has been a huge disappointment, (esp being a top 10 pick), and MacDermid is a depth guy. Pushing the picks out means COL needs to upgrade the prospect instead of Ranta.

I wholeheartedly agree. COL fans want Giroux badly but are not willing to give anything up to get him. They always throw in Compher or Jost and the MIN fans always throw in Rask.

I agree with adding Compher, as they need to clear some cap to make space, and he's a decent player, but he's not a guy that's adding value to the deal. It's like Pitlick being added into the MTL / CAL deal. He's not a piece they were chasing, it's a cap move. But they def have to add, unless we have another Taylor Hall situation where G only wants to go to one team, and they need to take what they can get.

G is a rental he doesn't have term on his deal so your not going to get a high end prospect and picks for him...
A mid level prospect in Ranta and a 1st with a decent roster player with term in Compher should be the deal. if Philly doesn't want a Ranta then a 1st and 3rd would work too...
