How many times do an Islander fan have to tell you Maple Leafs fans that Mayfield is not a 3rd pair scrub who Isles basically will give away? He's the defenseman with the next most minutes against elite players IN THE LEAGUE with good results this year. He costs 1.450 mils for this AND next year. He's proven himself in the previous 3 SC playoffs with great numbers on a team that reached game 7 against Tampa... In addition to this he's a rightie.

He will cost more than David Savard who got Columbus a 1st and a 3rd, he had a bigger caphit and was a UFA + much worse than Mayfield.

Aggree. The Leafs aquired Muzzin for a 1st ,Grundstrom, Durzi. Both players are now NHL guys for the most part. As u said CLB got a 1st and 3rd for savard. Logically Mayfield probably falls somewhere in the middle , say a 1st and an good level prospect. Value may increase do to mayfields favorable cap hit. Wìth all that being said Mayfield might check every box the Leafs are looking for. The real question is what are the Islanders going to do. They need to win games in bunches soon.

Also ARZ get way more value for Crouse. LEAFS would probably have to include Robertson or Amroiv in a deal for Crouse.

Travis Dermott is worth more to the Leafs then A 4th rounder. Hes an every day NHL player. The %chance of a 4th rounder becoming and NHL player is low. That is just a bad management trade.

Luke shenn is worth more then a 4th, again he is an everyday NHL player.

Everyday NHL players like shenn and Dermotts value is a late rounder and a mid level aging prospect who is ready for NHL experience. Example would be the joey Anderson type

Yes i was comparing the Muzzin trade to the mayfield trade proposed and also to Savard trade. In reference to Mayfield being a less talented player then Muzzin and a more talented player the Savard. That must not have been clear enough in my response.
