They might be able to go after a veteran like Anderson to fill the void.

Because Detroit isn't surrendering assests for a 34 yr old injured player with 2 years of term left at 5.25 million, even if he is from Michigan. Detroit isn't a contender, in order for us to take Martinez, Vegas will have to pay. On top of that there is Namestnikov with 50% retrained and I don't see Brossoit doing much for us.

Next year DET need a veteran guy to play top pairing minutes with Seider and Edvidsson-Hronek will be the 2nd pairing and Oesterle-Lindstrom the 3rd pairing. Martinez isn’t bad at all but because of is contract and Vegas cap hell situation, they might have to sell him low. I didn’t even know he was from Michigan so that’s a bonus as well. He is miles better than Leddy btw. And next year you’ll need a decent back for Ned
I don’t think you follow the Red Wings or hockey at all. You don’t have to keep commenting

Yzerman will either sign a free agent, someone he doesn't have to surrender assests for durning a rebuild, or aquire assets by taking a guy like Martinez. ( Like he did with Staal). He definitely won't pay for Martinez and his bloated cap hit. If Yzerman did things like that, Detroit would be in trouble. Ken Holland and the oilers might go for it though.

Martinez is better than the LHD free agent coming in and if you follow Vegas he is a tremendous teammates showing great leadership. This is value. Ottawa were a rebuilding team and traded a 2nd RD pick (37th OA) for declining Stepan at 6.5M

He might be better than a few of them but definitely not all. Ottowa doing something has no bearing on what Detroit will do. Martinez negative value for Detroit unless your sending some pics with him.

Keep playing NHL on your Playstation
Martinez is filling holes but you don’t know your hockey that’s fine

Don't have one buddy. If Yzerman made those type of trades we would be in a perpetual rebuild.

Trade Martinez to a contender. Not a rebuilding club like Detroit. Not a good fit. Yzerman will fill holes with younger players and stop gaps for now.
