I dont agree with the signings, primarily since they would have to be one-way contracts. I would rather buyout MacDonald then retain his salary. Overvalued Raffl (he is more like a 5th-7th round pick) and I would hang on to Weise to play with Couturier and Schenn. Would also want to see Mason back instead of Neuvirth.

Retaining Mac's salary and trading him is a much shorter investment (3yrs vs 6yrs) than buying him out and the cap hit would only be about 700,000 more and would be coming off the book right as a bunch of our young guys would probably be in line for raises.

What would you do if you don't like any of those signings? Let them walk because they'd be one way? I don't get what you're saying.

I don't trust Weise to produce over a whole season and if we could move his term +cap hit I would do it for sure. I agree with Mason vs Nuervy but I guess I just deided it looks like that ship has sailed.

On the one-way contracts, since they exceed 925k AAV, we dont have as many rights to send them down to the AHL without clearing Waivers. I would want to sign them to max, two-way AAV, before giving them one-way contracts.

I only want Weise since he has chemistry with Schenn and Couturier. Mason can play here for 2-3 years until Hart takes over.

Ohhh gotcha, I actually never knew how they worked, but I'd be fine with that change. I get what you're saying with Weise but I think he regresses at some point. I see him as at best a good fourth line play driver who can step up into the third line for injuries.
