Montreal possibility

Description
Don't resign Halak, Stuart or Plekanec and we will be able to sign all the kids when they need contracts. Also defensive pipeline is much improved and the kids can compete for holes that open up from injury.

Détails additionnels:
Montreal need to win soon and resign Galchenyuk and Radulov so they dump a ton of cap in Plekanec and 2 non-first round picks for an established top 4 d-man with a tiny cap hit. This helps them win now, Sergachev is a big future they trade to have a deeper run now.
MTL
  1. Trouba, Jacob
Détails additionnels:
Jets get better d man in Sergachev who will be ready next year. Get 2 picks decent picks which, considering our draft record, are quite valuable. We eat Plekanec's contract for 2 years and will be done when Laine needs his big paycheck in 19/19.
2.
WPG
  1. Ekholm, Mattias
Détails additionnels:
Nashville needs to lose one good d-man and we need help on the left side immediately, Nashville gets very highly rated offensive dynamo who has adjusted to men's game with Connor which they lack. They get to protect Subban, Josi and Ellis in Expansion draft.
NSH
  1. Connor, Kyle
Détails additionnels:
Jets get solid 2nd line left shot d with a very affordable long-term contract.
3.
WPG
Vegas wants to compete immediately and Buff will help them do that, also gives them a fan favorite/cult player to advertise with.
    VGK
    1. Byfuglien, Dustin
    Détails additionnels:
Expansion draft, convince Buff to waive NMC to play in Vegas which is a little bit more appealing than Winnipeg. Winnipeg loses a pretty bad contract and d man who can't defend.

in my opinion that's too much for trouba. Yeah, he's a good top 4 d-man but Sergachev is MTL's top prospect.

I'm a huge Trouba fan, but Montreal is giving up way too much in this deal, a fair trade would be

    Sergachev
    2017 3rd round pick

    In exchange for

    Trouba

Sergachev is way better than Trouba don't get me wrong but Montreal is in a pretty tight situation with both cap space and the core is aging so the cap dump and the prospect for established d makes this trade good for Montreal rn not long term but if they wanted long term they wouldn't have done the Weber-Subban trade so because they did that I think they do this.

Also Montreal doesn't need another RD - I get that Trouba has been playing the left side at times but for that kind of deal I doubt they sacrifice the future of their Defence (Markovs replacement, touted as a Hedman-esk). Cap consideration is a fair point but all-in-all the perspective is this, Montreal could've shipped Serg and picks for Duchene (very similar to the above deal) and they'd have filled a much bigger hole down the middle. They wouldn't do that deal (emphatically so by MB), they wouldn't do this deal.

Dude Plekanec is a cap dump which means Winnipeg gets more to take him...

Yea I am just playing around with this but Montreal really wants to win now which was what I was thinking and Trouba is still the future lol let's not forget he's only 22

Trouba to Montreal makes zero sense unless MB plans on trading Petry, Montreal is already pretty much set at RD and Sergachev more then likely will be better then Trouba and giving up all that control of Sergachev for what might only be 3 years of Trouba doesn't make much sense.

I know Montreal probably doesn't want do give up Serg but Trouba is so good. The chances of Serg being better then Trouba are very slim. All in all it doesn't make much sense for both sides as they already have Petry and Weber.

    This.

I'd love to get him but he's a righty and he wants to play that side. Don't blame him. Honestly I know MTL is win now mode but if there is one kid the past 10 years other than Galchenyuk that should not be traded under just about any circumstances, its Sergachev. We his value could be really high soon and if he does attain that potential he will be worth so much that he'd be irreplaceable. I'm willing to take that risk, even if he doesn't.

Has nothing to do with logic anymore. This has become one of those things where we don't want to trade this guy until we know exactly what we have first.
