Nothing in that deal is worth a 1st.

I wouldn’t even do Shore and Lavoie for that package. Lavoie is one of our better forward prospects.

Crouse is kind of interesting, but wouldn’t do more than like Benson and a late pick for him


2nd rounder for Soucy seems a little steep. But I really like the target. I would do Russell/Koekoek + 3rd. Maybe add in a prospect too.

Shore is a replacement-level player at best and generally is a drag on the team's results.

Like Goodrow a couple years back, I think Crouse is a guy that fits the bill as young asset under team control with the right toolkit to be worth a late 1st. Personally, I don't see Lavoie being worth much given his struggles and his track record of inconsistency. If he isn't scoring, he doesn't really bring much else. To me, the trade is essentially a 1st, a 3rd (my perceived value of Lavoie), and filler (Shore) for Crouse and an upgrade on Shore.

Given the market for Dmen around deadline time, Soucy is pretty much guaranteed to command at least a 2nd. With Savard costing a 1st last year and Chiarot rumored around a 1st, I could see it taking Samo and the 2nd. However, I can understand the hesitation. Would it change for you if the Oil got a winger like Jarnkrok, as well?
