I think that with the ads on helmets this year that they might be able to raise the cap up to 85 mil yes its unlikely all of this is unlikely but hey u never know

I'd say this is very unlikely. It would make it a lot easier on teams like Tampa and Toronto.

yes it would but the cap has continued to rise ever since it was introduced so it is impossible for it to suddenly stop especially with the players demanding more and more money

you do know that it has stopped for two consecutive years right? if it does go up, which hopefully it will, it probably goes to 82.5 maybe 83, but thats, i dont think they want to have a big jump with several teams still trying to bounce back financially.

The only reason it stopped was due to covid and the NHL being broke cause they had no fans so they couldnt make money

Bettman and Daly already said that the cap will increase by $1,000,000 in the next 3 to 4 years. Cap wont increase that much due to ads.

Teams in the 10th to 15th overall range can no longer climb into the lottery, Under the new format teams in those range can only climb 7 spots. So at best Montreal can't finish anywhere less then the 8th overall to get a shot at Shane Wright.

Yes i'm aware. But many of those teams are going to need a few years of ticket sales to get back into the black. A 3.5 mil jump in the cap would favor big market teams and the league isnt going to do that. At this rate it should hit 85 in 24-25.

And ya habs looking for a bottom 5 team 3 games into the season, likely its an 82 game season. Last year they looked horrible for to seperate losiing streak of around 7 games, yet ended up in a miracle playoff run. Not expecting that to be repeated by any means, but theres still a long season left.

oh i dont disagree that it is going to be rough. but Edmundson should be back shortly, hoffman in the lineup potentially tomorrow, i dont think that team is a bottom 5 team, dont expect them to make the playoffs but they will probably end up in the 80-90 point range which usually is in that group of team that just miss the playoff and end up with a 10-15th pick, which they will lose to arizona and then end up drafting from carolina's spot later in the first.
