Description

I don't know what Arizona would want for Phil but it appears they want to accumulate as many picks as possible. The 2nd rounder in 2022 could become a first depending on how far Toronto makes it in the playoffs. Kerfoot is someone Arizona could re-sign and play up and down their lineup or be flipped again at the deadline for another pick. Engvall is a young, decent depth option under contract for another year. Both of these guys do not appear to have a solid fit in Toronto's lineup and cost too much on the cap hits. Short term Toronto gets another scoring forward with proven top 6 talent and attempts to go deeper in the playoffs

I didn't realize we had an issue with center depth... Matthews, Tavares, Kampf, Spezza, Brooks, Amadio, even Willy in a pinch. Kerfoot will likely be a winger this year with the addition of Kampf. Engvall isn't in the lineup every night and plays about as much wing as center. I guess you could swap Mikheyev instead of Engvall but I would prefer to keep him.

It would actually be cool if Kessel comes back to Toronto and helps them win a Cup.

I don't know if I agree with the trade but I like the irony of it all.
