Schwartz's production dipped this year but he still has good trade value. Hutton would add skill to the left side. It would give Petro a better partner so Bouw's minutes can be sheltered and he can move down to complement Schmaltz, who is a good puck mover but needs to finish his development.

COL wouldn't have to give up much to get Gunnarsson. He doesn't do much but he's a stay-at-home guy that pairs well with roaming D-men.

I don't see Yak fitting into this team. I wonder how many teams would take a flyer on him... Is he still banned from the KHL?

The ultimate goal would be to free up space for a Tavares offer in summer 2018; that would require dumping Lehtera somehow (only a year, 5M salary, 4.7M cap hit. I'm aware that JT likely won't come to STL, but it's worth a shot.

Let me know what you think, please. This doesn't solve our lack of center depth, but I think it makes us better now and for the future.
