Description
Breakdown:

My most likely trading partner for Vanek is Nashville. They need a top-6 winger and Vanek is possibly the best available and has a great contract. Without a prospect to get the deal done, my asking price will be two picks, If Brendan Smith got you a 2nd and a 3rd, a 1st and a 2nd is more than fair for Vanek. Just to sweetin' the pot I sent a pick back to Nashville.

I'm not sure how or why Sheahan would be trade bait, but Leafs' fans should know Mike Babcock was his biggest fan. Sportsnet was reporting Saturday night that Toronto is very interested as well. Rumors are the WIngs still think he has upside and are asking for a 1st. They won't, nor should they get a 1st. Even in this insane climate. If a 2nd gets it done, I'd want them to defer to 2018. 2018 is a much better draft and the more picks they compile, the easier it will be to leverage back into the first round. That's a theme for my Arm-Chair GM Team.

Again, Ott is really only worth a 6th or a 7th in my mind. But people are getting traded for absurd prices. CBJ would be getting a fantastic fourth line center that wins tons of face-offs, and he's a great locker room guy that has danced before. This is more than fair.

Trading Green is the most complicated of potential deals, but needs to be done now to get maximal value. Especially if he won't be part of a rebuilt future post 2018. Oilers fans will cry about this trade, but it's more than fair. No team needs a right shot D man more than EDM. He's from the Province. You get another year of control at a good price. Buys you time before the McDavid/Draisaitl deals need to be done. The price on Green should be high. Two high picks or a high pick and a prospect. I went that route. Took Gryba back to offer cap relief and Red Wings' D depth relief. The prospect would have to be Bear, because the Wings need D depth and he's one of the higher caliber ones in EDM's system. So to the kid that keeps commenting on Edmonton trades saying they won't trade Bear: Green is the difference if you want a cup in the next two years. Not bear. So tough luck.

Remember these are hypothetical/fun scenarios and nothing more. I'm also one of the few people on here that describes everything in detail before I hit publish. So give me a little credit.

Vanek Trade: Comparing Smith Trade to him isn't very accurate, Dmen are more valuable than forwards, PLUS Vanek has a history of poor playoffs performances, TSN mentions that not many teams interested in him. I think value for him is a 2nd and a 3rd/4th but if someone offers a 2nd I would take it if I'm Holland.

Sheahan Trade: Leafs just got Boyle, don't need another C unless we're trading away Bozak. I could see those rumours being a tactic by the Leafs to make Yzerman sweat to use some leverage over Boyle

Ott Trade: Possible, just take the best pick that's offered, he's very tradeable so there should be some interest

Green Trade: I think EDM is a good destination however 1: They're not trading away Bear for the simple fact that they can't trade away D prospects since they have had such difficulty with that for the last 10 years. I could see Green going to EDM for Fayne (contract) a 1st and plus. No need to retain EDM won't have any issues.

Disagree on Vanek. He's the best rental forward available. And this climate proves that people are paying absurd prices for guys. Nashville had a great run last year and they're cruising now. They're a win now team, and Vanek helps them enough to pay the price. Poile has had large balls in the past, so just going by precedent.

Thanks for your rational comments, by the way. Not much of that happens on here.

I think these trades are great and I wish they all happened. Even if we had to sweeten the pot to get the Edm deal done!

The Leafs (or almost anyone ) doesn't need Sheehan. Doubt if teams are that interested in give up so much in Vanek. Remember the Rangers are probably late in the round so a 55th and 86th, doesn't compare to Nashville's 22nd pick.
That's a way overpayment for Greene. The other problem a team has if they picked Green and paid a steep price, they just might not have room to protect him on the expansion list as a top 3 Dman. Sekura, Larsson, Klefhom certainly rank ahead of him. Edmonton cap fit him under the cap next year, but not too many teams may want to. The Leafs could, but they aren't going to trade much for him when they can do better in trades in the summer.
