the first trade is very interesting from a Toronto POV as it would give Hunter lots of draft picks. the only thing that is worrying is that for the next 7 years 2 out of 3 of the leafs retention slots and almost 4 million dollars worth of cap would be used up

I think the Leafs would virtually give Phanuef away if anyone would take his contract. (and his declining play) Winnipeg seems to have lots of defencemen, so I really don't know if they want another another. If so maybe sign a free agent short term if possible, Franson? without giving up picks.
Interesting goalie trade. Don't think the Leaf are in love with RFA Bernier, and next summer UFA Manitoba boy Reimer. Maybe one of those two with Hutchinson would be a good combo in the coming year. Do you think Hutch is the long term goalie for Winnipeg?

Hutch is short term goalie until Comrie will be ready. They have plenty of options at every position.
