If they trade for Eichel they pay Lindholm and extend him, they might even do that without getting Eichel, he's the one of the "Current Core" worth extending for the Ducks.

ANA would need to prove to Eichel he can win in ANA, whats the difference between BUF and ANA? they were the bottom 2 teams in the league. Eichel wouldnt be happy seeing the best player on the other team traded before he gets there, why wouldnt he immediately demand a trade out of ANA, or hold us hostage once his NMC kicks in the last 2 years of his contract

Thats a fair argument, though you could easily replace Lindholm with Rakell in this trade scenario if thats an issue, and i think it's still close.

Rakell would be Eichel's linemate if we trade for him, the Ducks wouldnt be subtracting from the current team if they bring Eichel in. Henrique (Or less likely Shattenkirk) would have to go back money wise if the Ducks did trade for Eichel tbh, for the roster space as well.

I understand that seems underwhelming and not a great return for Eichel, but ANA isnt a great trade partner for Eichel. The Ducks are essentially in the same spot as BUF rn, would the Sabres trade the farm for an Eichel right now? I just dont see the sense in it for ANA right now based on where they are

How would it not be Silferberg and Comtois as his linemates? IMO that makes more sense. Legit I dont know, I havent seen ANA play in a bit. I see a ton of people complain about Rakell so assumed he'd be the guy to go

As far as the trade you proposed, im fine with that as a return, I really like Comtois and Steel. Only part i dont love is the protected pick, think it would have to be top 5 protection for everything. But im not hung up on that tbh

Rakell-Eichel-Terry
Milano-Zegras-Silf
Jones-Lundestrom-Volkov

If Comtois is moved Rakell is our best finisher and Terry is (for my money) our best 2-way forward
Silf would provide more insulation for Z, while Jones, Milano and Volkov would be interchangeable

The Ducks cant afford to trade first round picks (especially with the strength of the next two drafts) If they do trade them there's no chance its without protection, even top 10 protection might not be enough, they probably push for straight up lottery protection, just doesnt make sense for a team that finished 30th out of 31 teams.

Okay, that's all fair. What I'm taking away from all of this is both teams are looking pretty rough for at least a year or two more lol

Pretty much the sentiment of Duck fans as well Thats why most of us are against Eichel trades on here or at least ones that have Zegras or Drysdale in them, we just aren't really at the point where it makes sense yet
