Your second best player is also a rental. NSH doesn't consider this either. The Johansen contract obviously isn't good, but he's still good on faceoffs and his defense is good too. I'm not saying Calgary accepts this, but Nashville doesn't either. They have a better chance at re-signing Forsberg and/or Ekholm than they would at signing Gaudreau. If they trade their best forward and second best defenseman it's going to be for picks and prospects.
