Anaheim is looking to dump Kesler's LTIR contract. The Leafs can take this on without it contributing to the salary cap as Kesler will not play again. They can upgrade Kerfoot for a Top 6F at a reduced cost with 25% salary retention on Rakell. Volkov for Engvall exchange is not necessary but the upgrade in Kerfoot to Rakell is well worth it and frees up an extra 600k in Cap Space

Yes the ducks are looking to dump the contract. However, I dont have an exact percentage but insurance covers a good portion of the cost of Kesler's contract. You wasted your time.

3 things to consider:

1. Keslr's deal is probably has insurance and Ducks only paying a portion of his 6+ million dollar.contra t.
2. Ducks even without dumping Keslr's contract have 10 million in cap with only 4 spots to fill
3 Kerfoot is not better than Rackell. Rackel l played top line minutes against top.lines and still had more epic tsthan Kerfoot who payed 3rd line competition. If you asked most people people on this site if they wanted Rackell or Kerfoot, most would want Rackell.

So Ducks say no thanks.
