I'm quoting from the Steve Dangle Podcast, over the past 4 seasons, with the additions of Boyle (lou trade), Foligno, Plekanec (Lou), Nash, Hutton, Clifford, Rittich, the Leafs traded a 1st, two seconds, 2 3rds, a 4th, 5th and 6th. The average number of games those players played for the Leafs is 13. Thirteen
On top of that Hyman, JVR, Gardiner, and Barrie all walked for nothing. Barrie is not a Norris candidate, but he will move the puck and put up alot of points. Same with Gardiner, although not the same level. These players are worth picks/prospects, their value can be disputed. I'm missing some other UFAs that walked like Komorov and Bozak but I don't think you'd get alot for them. I'm fine with trading picks, but aquiring key players and keeping them for those picks. The Leafs cannot afford to lose Rielly and Campbell for nothing.
In hindsight, the Tavares signing looks pretty bad right now. Love the guy, great leader, puts up points although not 11 million type of point pace. They could really use that 11 million type of money.
TDL trades especially rentals sucks yea but every deadline it's what fans beg to do so.
Tavares is worth 11m so stop that.
Barrie sucked and we did try to shop him at the deadline and nothing happen. If we don't trade Rielly before camp 99% we're sticking with him for the season.
Nice to see that someone finally realizes the bad signing of JT, not that he is a bad player but the leafs don’t need him and the contract value is bad. That Money spent wisely on defence could of meant a cup.

You've missed my point. If the Leafs didn't sign Tavares, they wouldn't have to pay him 11 and Kerfoot 3.5 (who came over in Kadri trade), therefore they could of kept Hyman. It's not a trade with Edmonton.

Some people just see the frustration - not the bright spot. Dubas did quit well to replace the future cap hit of Hyman and Foligno combined for 9,3 M to bring in depth with RITCHIE + KASE + KÄMPF + BUNTING + GABRIEL combined for 7,7 M. That is genious. You saw what happened if one player goes down and another played injured. This team needed more options.
Just to compare the numbers of Draisaitl and Tavares is hilarious. This guy do nothing defensively for Edmonton. Tavares is worth every penny.
You quoted SDP so you likely watch Steves Videos and should know what Tavares brings to the team and that every shift is an eye-catcher. Not to mention the intangible assets and leadership he brings to this team.
Just stop to be upset about the core four cap hit. This is really boring and annoying. It is what it is. If the cap hit would be around 90 M right now, no one would complain. And nobody could foresee what happened.
