Kraken - Could Go Crazy Eichel Trade

Créé par: KC11

Date de création initiale: 30 juill. 2021

Description
Changed since everyone seems to think it wasn't crazy enough and BUF somehow going to get a kings ransom for a disgruntled player demanding a trade, coming off major surgery, and after all NHL GM's have blown their Cap space in FA during a flat CAP year. So yeah, sounds like BUF is in such a great bargaining position.

OK. What does a good deal look like (keeping in mind that BUF is running out of options)

So your offer was awful…. Soucy and Wennberg are completely useless to Buffalo. The first and a second are the only pieces that are worth putting in the deal. Eichel trade starts with Beniers and a first.

They're not running out of options though, that's the thing. If you want Eichel you pay up, if you don't then no Jack. I really think this goes into next off season

You think Eichel is playing in BUF this year?? Bridges are burned - not gonna happen. And the value of an aging asset that doesn't play goes down, not up in all sports.

Fair enough. Made an adjustment, though I don't think BUF is going to get anything close to this from anyone. They overplayed their hand.

He is 24 years old, not 28 or 29. I think what ultimately happens is he has his surgery, out until after the Oly break, plays the last 15 games or so to show he is healthy, has about 20 points in those games and get's dealt at the draft in 2022 for a kings ransom

Good luck to BUF on that bet. And wastes another year of their perpetual rebuild. But I guess if any franchise and fanbase have that kind of patience to field a competitive team, its BUF (how many years have they been waiting?)

Ah yes “aging”. My man is 24 years old and heading into his prime and you’re calling him an “aging asset”. Ok bud…

Wastes another year? I don't think you're paying attention. Eichel is NOT a part of their future. Nobody they drafted is playing this year. They were in last place last season and are signing stop gaps to get to the cap floor for this coming season. They're totally planning on drafting top 3 next year again. They cannot trade Eichel for peanuts on the dollar or they will set the franchise back another 10 years.

I agree, he's in his prime. My response was to the idea of BUF getting more after he sits out for nearly a year than they will right now.

His no move clause kicks in next year so they better trade him now.

Kicks in July 1st 2022, after the draft. They are in no rush and shouldn't be

Looks like the bridge is not only burned, but blown up. Buffalo has such little bargaining power at this point. By refusing to approve Eichel's surgery now, that adds risk to his recovery timeline and questions about his return to form. Young, yes, but injured and unhappy is not a recipe for good leverage in a trade.

I don't think you understand leverage. The Sabres hold all of it, for 5 more seasons. Eichel can only refuse a trade once his NMC kicks in, that doesn't mean the Sabres have to trade him...
