Buch trade signaled a major move and then Mika rumors dropped out of nowhere from Minnesota sources and it got me thinking is there a 3 team trade in the works

NYR get Eichel and Greenway, Minnesota gets Zibanejad, Buffalo gets Rossi Kravtsov Jones Georgiev and draft picks

Minny wants an upgrade at C but can’t afford Eichel’s cap hit long term

NYR have always wanted Eichel, view him as someone who could center Laf and Kakko for the next 5 to 10 years. They know they can’t keep Eichel and Zib long term, so they trade Zib for the younger, better player. Also get to keep Strome and Panarin chemistry and will be cheaper to extend Strome than Zib.

Buffalo isn’t entertained by any singular teams offer, but a 3 team could satisfy their needs. Good C prospect in Rossi, good wing prospect in Krav, good D prospect in Jones, fill goalie need with Georgiev(who wants out of NYR for an opportunity to be a starter somewhere else), and draft capital.

Also see a lot of people bringing up Mika’s NMC but there’s a lot of ways to get around that. He’s a pending UFA and the team tells his agent they don’t see a long term deal working and lets him negotiate a long term deal with Minnesota pre-trade then he’d waive to go there.
