Description
Read an article the other day where an analyst was speculating trading Galchenyuk. His reasoning was about how Montreal has to be all-in these next couple years because of Webers prime and Prices contract renewal.

Duchene is a further developed version of Galchenyuk in my mind and will come at relatively the same price long-term as him.

Hanny: IMO this makes sense. What a simple trade. I know points aren't everything and for all the criticism Gally get, he's got 29 points in 37 games, comparable to Duchene's 33 points, 49 games.
Maybe Montreal would send a prospect closer to the NHL than the second rounder. Good thoughts.
Maybe Vancouver (as so many teams) wouldn't be interested in selling at TDL, as they are in a playoff run.

To me the real question with the Duchene trade is: can Galchenyuk get his mojo back without MT playing him to develope his defense and instead have Julien play him to his strength (offense)? the shame is it's such a short window of time, but if Chucky gets it back with top line minutes/assingments I think this less of a necessary deal. That said I don't mind it at all, we are getting what we need in Duchene and objectively more as we can't say where development will end on Chucky. I hate seeing a guy who has been drafted and come up through the team moved at this point though, like the team needs help at center but before the injury i don't think we'd be seeing Chucky as a piece we wanted moved. I hold true on that and think the real issue is weakness at center, too much of DD in past and pleky not having the ability anymore (we need a 2nd line center, but upgrading on Chucky is good but it's sort of marginal fix to what the team is lacking).
Not to forget Duchene is coming from a team with talented linemates who are also failing to get it done.

Your right Lesage. Although it's 10 days till TDL, Julien has been brought in to change the Habs. For the Habs sake, a good Gally long term is worth a lot more than two. years of Duchene.
Thought a change of scenery may be good for Landeskog, Duchene, even MacKinnon, it's not like they have been real difference makers with the current Avs.
