Based on the Ned trade and comments from GMDW this makes sense. Could also see them going after fleury with a third team involved for retention purposes.

Can’t say I love the way any of it is playing out but I’d imagine the Canes will make a splash or two yet.

That would be a no from the penguins. He is the best prospect in an empty cupboard.

Carolina apparently want Andersen... although I'd prefer Lehner

I don't think Foley is ever going to let Fleury get traded.

Maybe. I just chose Pitt based on where I think Reilly could go.

I’ve heard that a couple of times this afternoon but haven’t seen any reports. Do you know where this is coming from? I know they were kicking the tires on him a couple of years ago but it didn’t work out. At this point after he’s been below average to bad the last two seasons I’d be shocked and pretty upset if that’s who they chose to bet on bc he’s a veteran.

Like, I get the bet against Ned long term although I don’t agree with it and on top of that I think they just mishandled them whole situation dramatically. But to put your faith in a goalie who is quickly going downhill just bc he’s a vet seems insane.

This isn’t coming after you, I’m just genuinely curious where the rumor is coming from. Sometimes hard to tell with tone on here haha

Really? I would think fleury is the easy decision to move with just a year left on his deal if they’re trying to clear cap space to make other moves

The Athletic

For as long as this group as been in charge, the have wanted a veteran goaltender on the tandem to stable the ship if the starter wobbles. Year 1 was McElhinney, 2 and 3 were Reimer. Maybe that's what Bernier is for. What will be interesting is who starts. Andersen is hurt, but when he's healthy he's great. Raanta is in the same boat, Mrazek is still an option... there were rumors a few months back about Gibson being unhappy in Anaheim... maybe he's the one? I don't know. I just know this should be interesting.

They're going to most likely re-sign him. And trading the guy who just won the Vezina isn't the best look.

Fair - would just think lehner is the longer term option with fleury getting up there in age

Man, Freddy at this stage would be a train wreck. Even if he signs a super team friendly deal. i want no part of that risk.

I would be okay with Freddie if the deal was right. I just don't know what the deal would look like to be right...
