Honestly... that's an awsome idea of offer sheets Petersson

Because either Vancouver will be forced to create cap space while loosing some key players/prospects or let him walk for these picks

I prefered at that point Bernier (or going for an better goalie due to all that cap space) that Halak and add 2 players in case of injuries (a D and a foward) and this team will looks gooooood

I only did Halak because of the Montreal angle, but it would be ballsy if Marc pulled that off.

IMHO Habs shouldn't OS anyone for the next two years until Suzuki and Caulfield are signed long term. Otherwise we're basically gonna have to over pay for them either way.

I believe the mindset would be Weber will have retired, and you have 8 million dollars in cap space by the time CC needs a new contract, and that’s only if they keep Kotka.

Oh I agree but by OS Pettersson, we're opening up other teams to OS our best young players in Suzuki and Caulfield. Vancouver would literally have 10.25M reasons to OS Suzuki. Thats why doing OS needs to happen only after we've locked up our young core already.

Even if no one OS our guys, Suzuki and Caulfield will ask for more money simply because they see Pettersson get 10M+. So either way it'll burn us someway.

Vancouver will match in my opinion but they will be in serious trouble. If Holtby gets taken, they have 14 roster players and needs to sign RFAs Hughes, Petey, Juolevi. UFAs Hamonic, Edler and then find another backup cause Dipetro is not ready. I think theyd be pissed that Pettersson signed it too but can you blame him? 10.275M AAV

Yeah that's the reason i'm talking about that, the best decision in my opinion is letting him goes and replace him with a ufa a little less expensive, sucks but they will be forced cause they can't have both if he signs that deal.
