Description
Got creative as I started putting together the lineup. Let me know what you think about trades, lines, long term, etc.! Also, Power & Eklund not in the lineup this year (back to NCAA & SHL).

Protection List:
F:
Eichel
Reinhart
Olofsson
Mittlestadt
Asplund
Thompson
Bjork

D:
Dahlin
Jokiharju
Borgen

G:
Ullmark

Trades happen after expansion.

Kraken deal: I think if BUF exposes Risto, Seattle will take him. If only to flip him to another team.

Ducks deal: Fair value? Sabres could take Henrique back if BUF isnt on his NTC.

Golden Knights deal: VGK gets their #1 center and cheap depth for 2 years in Bjork. BUF gets some big pieces and ammo to get...

Lightning deal: Hard to gauge value on this one. Cirelli is a big piece for them, but only high ticket forward without trade protection. They could use early round picks and Pilut would be energized to play for them.

Oilers trade: EDM gets a powerplay specialist at 50% off cap hit (RFA on expiry too) and gets out from Kassian contact. Cost is Lavoie.

Hahah figured those were low, maybe even Eichel return too. I'd rather lean light on return than get crushed for "overvaluing Sabres garbage".

Oilers trade maybe involves a pick coming to BUF too.

Yeah that’s usually a good method on here haha. I’d imagine Ducks can at least spare a B prospect in this deal and Oilers add a 2 without retention.

No chance Anaheim trades the third overall pick in this year's draft for Sam Reinhart, even if he comes with an extension. Reinhart isn't close to a franchise player, and I'd rather take the home-run-or-strikeout swing for the fences that keeping that 2021 first represents. If Owen Power is still there, he could be the next Viktor Hedman; if Matt Beniers is still there, he could be the next Matt Barzal; if Dylan Guenther is still there, he could be the next David Pastrnak. We'll stand pat.

Matt Beniers is not similar style to Barzal but I understand your point. Realistically, if they take Beniers/Guenther/Eklund/etc, at 3....they're hoping he can become the player Sam is now or better. Depends if GM Murray thinks they should go for it now or not (I think not but that ruins my whole AGM).....would probably try to move Reinhart to LA for #5 + if thats the case.

The idea that Columbus would trade the second overall pick in this year's draft for Sam Reinhart is even more laughable (by definition) than the idea that Anaheim would trade the third overall pick in this year's draft for him.

Brain farted on the fact that it was the 3OA, my fault. Backtrack time smile

Yes, it's the "or better" hope-springs-eternal optimism that prompts the rejection. Anaheim is on the climb but near the bottom of the upsurge, so acquiring Reinhart makes little sense now.

LA has #8. I'm sure you knew that and this was a typo/slip.

Haha I know I know. What first round pick is Reinhart worth in your opinion? Probably 5-8?

It's very hard for me to evaluate due to the fact that he can force free agency after only one year. If he came with a guaranteed extension, then I can see Vancouver trading #9 for him. He fits the Canucks better than he fits the Kings. San Jose has no business trading for him and Detroit won't because Steve Yzerman is a "build long-term" guy. Without an extension, I think that only a contender WITH cap space can afford to take the risk.

this is too much for Eichel IMO. Krebs or Tuch, can’t do both. Then you add Dugan too who was almost a ppg guy. Pass
