I understand that’s a steep price for Jones, but I think teams panic now that the hawks got Caleb and start turning it into a bidding war fast with the hawks getting Seth. I’d be shocked if Columbus got this return but who knows, I was shocked when we got Panarin (different situation I know)

Seth Jones back to Chicago helps bowman cover up his goat trade with Columbus in the past. Also I think Reichel is off limits. Im worried Jeremy colliton is not the best coach for Jones to get the best out of him so hopefully we don’t lose too much to get Jones

So you get Jones to negotiate with Chicago. So now Jones knows what the Hawks are willing to pay him, and the Hawks know also. So the trade isn't made, and as both parties don't sign the contract.
Jones still might want his options open to be a UFA, and Hawk thinking they have good chance of signing Jones as a UFA, don't give up those three young good assets.
Sign and trades are virtually impossible except on CapFriendly.

So they why would Jones even negotiate with the hawks if he wants to test FA? Wouldn't he just come out and say hey I'm testing the market thats that? What if he finds another team he wants to extend long term with and signs with them? Then what do the hawks do? Even if Jones hits the open market there’s no guarantee he even signs with the hawks. Hawks would sign and trade so he never even hits the open market and tries to command more money. You wanna pay Jones 9+?

You're the guy who made the post that said Jones has 8m X 6 year deal. I'm saying these sign and trades happen so infrequently (one year from UFA) they are silly trades. Some team is going to overpay Jones, and no team should give up three good young assets too.
But you scenario is incorrect. Sure Jones would love to negotiate with the Hawks, but that doesn't mean at all, he would forgo his UFA status and sign with the Hawks. He would love to know what a team would pay him, even if he didn't have any intention signing with the Hawks.
And players very rarely come out and say "I'm testing the market," one year from their UFA status. Ninety five percent of the time they say "I want to remain with (my current team), because they don't want the UFA subject been mentioned every day by the their hometown media and fans.

So a team is going to overpay but shouldn’t give up those assets for a 26 year old RHD who plays 25 minutes a night and can play any situation whether quarterbacking a power play or killing a penalty? My apologies didn’t know you were leading Jones’s camp

Jones has never been a difference maker in his career. Two playoff round wins in his nine seasons. No way should the Hawks give up all that, as Jones and the current edition of the Hawks aren't going deep in the playoffs in 21/22.
