I'm not "in the know" on ghost, but wouldn't he be more of a liability in a trade given he cleared waivers and anyone could have taken him and his contract for free?

I think people over estimate the waivers thing with many players (not just ghost). There are teams that I think would have had interest in ghost but due to it being mid season and no one having cap space I don't think they wanted the contract. Now that it is the offseason, there may be teams that have more space and are willing to take a chance on a guy like ghost (Who after being placed on waivers was the flyers best d-Men)

Relatively minor note but Ghost is 2x as good Korpisalo given his offensive ability (even last season he posted ok pts/60 numbers) and Korpi career .905
