Detroit says no for the following reasons:
1. Detroit already have 9 waiver eligible wingers penned in for next year + Raymond and Berggren.
2. Detroit already have 4 LD prospects newly signed + 2 more unsigned.
3. Detroit took on Staal this year for one year and got a 2nd round pick for the trouble. Staal was useful, he was needed. Neal is not useful and it's for two years.
If you want Detroit to take on Neal then you have to offer way, way more for us to do it. The price for a player that was useful was one 2nd round pick per year, this is two years for a player that is of no use to Detroit. It'll cost you either two bluechip prospects that fills a position of need for Detroit or at least two 1st round picks.
If you think that's too much then Detroit is happy for you to find another solution with other teams.
Remember that how you and your team values Neal doesn't affect how Detroit values him.
