That’s giving away Graves and Donskoi. You have regular ACGM’s with Van giving up a 2nd +, heck Sakic got Saad and retention for Zadorov and Graves is better than Zadorov. I think the Grubauer contract is about $750K light, Makar isn’t signing that contract. Ranta needs a year in the AHL. The frame work is there, sign there existing guys bring back Saad, give the kids a shot.

I wouldn't be opposed to getting more but I just saw someone say Montour got a 3rd so I thought that might be a decent comparable. Donskoi had a decent season so yeah maybe a little more for him. Grubauer hopefully stays for around the 5.5-6ish, I agree. Makar probably isn't signing for 6 but I based that off Pietrangelo getting 8.8x7 in a flat cap year.

Makar is an elite young defenseman. If he were on the open market you don’t think for a minute he wouldn’t get $10M+ Pietrangelo isn’t a comparable for him.

Grubauer has had one very good year, and I think people would be hesistant to give him significantly more than that due to the flat cap. I agreed around 6ish which is right where Markstrom is.

Pietrangelo is a top 5 highest paid defenseman so I think it would definitely be a comparison since contracts aren't going up like they used to. So sure he could get 10M on an 8 year but 8.5-9 on a 6 year seems about that range.
