I really don’t understand why everyone has been hyping this up for almost a year.
(1) The Rangers best prospects are defenseman. Sabres have a very good defenseman prospects along with already good young defenseman in their lineup. You also need high end forward prospects when they trade Eichel, which the Rangers do not have.
(2) Lafrenière is untouchable. So there is really no interesting roster player that’s a forward. Eichel is better than both Kakko and Chytil, with a broken neck. Kravstov didn’t produce in the KHL or the NHL.
I just can’t see it happening. Many teams have the forward prospects that the Rangers lack to make a way better offer.
The offers that ACGM's post aren't really helping either.
Kakko + Chytil + Lundkvist + 1st for Eichel is a fair base offer value wise for Eichel. I usually see a bunch of random pieces thrown together to make it look like a quality package when in reality it's quite poor.
Because there was a rumor last year that Eichel said he would like to play in NYC and the Rangers tried super hard to get him, so now Ranger fans feel theyre entitled as if that is the only possible scenario

Chytil and Mittlestadt are basically the same player as of right now, Kakko is looking like Carl Hagelin 2.0. Lundkvist also had a down year in the SHL, along with a low value first round pick. If the offers are also underwhelming he’s 100 percent going to a western conference team which was probably likely before he hurt his neck.

Think there's major disconnect between reality and your perception of these players value.
Chytil = Mittelstadt? This is Mitts first respectable season.
Kakko went from the worst statistical player in the NHL to one of the best.
Lundkvist did not have a down year in the SHL. He's simply outgrown that league which is why he signed an ELC and who DeAngelo was exiled for.

Mittlestadt this season was better from a PPG perspective that Chytil has ever had. Kakko is just way too risky 3/8 goals were scored on Dustin Tokarski..

Kakko was much better at all the little things. He may have progressed goal scoring slowly but he's been much more defensively responsible and is very hard to defend when he has the puck. He has improved his vision, skating, separation, and all around offensive game. He'd get hounded on a puck last year and not know what to do with it. This season he's just getting better in the small areas. Matter fo time before he's a much more well-rounded scorer.

Even if all that is true, I still want nothing to do with him as the main return in a Jack Eichel trade. The point of this post is generally valid, the Rangers simply do not have the pieces Buffalo would want, especially if they refuse to include Lafreniere.

Lafreniere and Kakko had mirrored rookie years. Both struggled to score consistently ( I blame quinn) and put up points. Lafreniere just didn't suck defensively the way Kakko did.
Personally, I'd be shocked if Eichel was dealt to NYR. I don't see us paying the price for him.
