Michael Bunting is someone who i think will be this years Carter Verhaege. He has a great shot and has shown serious promise in arizona this season, and only at age 25. You have to think you can sign him cheap long term and either give him the opportunity to play LW with mcdavid and if that doesnt work he still fits on your third line at the price point. Competition between him and chytil will be very healthy for the 1lw spot.

Nolan patrick has some serious upside but i think he needs to spend part of a season in the AHL to find his game, get his health back together, and find his dominant nature again. Think of it as a toronto and alex galchenyuk signing.

Danault is a elite player for a 3c. he shuts down top lines well and plays well with fiesty guys (brendan gallagher) so putting him with archie seems like a win.

Julien gauthier is essentially a successor for alex chiasson. He is big ( 6 ft 4 and 220+ lbs), but can skate better than chiasson, has struggled to put it all together on the rangers.

i opted to go this route as you always pay too much $$ and too much term in NHL free agency for top line players.

i also thought we should give nuge big money but for 2 years only. saves risk long term.
