Are we talking about the same player? Wahlstroms skating is a strength now, he’s able to pick up speed through the neutral zone and push back opposing D. His IQ in all 3 zones is better than most isles forwards. He rarely turns the puck over and drives play at both ends of the ice. He had the best underlying numbers among isles forwards against Crosby’s line. I’m not sure what flaws you see in his decision making

The only players I would trade wahlstrom for is mangiapane (cost controlled + elite winger) and guys like debrincat. Nylander has 3 years left and he’ll walk as a UFA and I don’t think he would do well in trotz system.

What would be a realistic trade offer for you. You are getting a potential top 6 winger that has an NHL level slap shot and can play on the top power play,who is on a ELC. You are also getting a Dman who is really good on the PK and can play decent top 4 minutes which is more defense minded than most of the Leafs Dman

Probably but that's the only player I could see trading in the forward group. No one going to take 10+ million dollar players without significant money coming back the other way. It doesn't matter how much of a superstar they are, teams are not going to destroy their cap. ( Unless if its NJD, OTW, LA or DET)
