Lots of people trying to find a fit for Drouin, but its not realistic- we were stuck with him the moment he failed to report to Tampa's AHL affiliate all those years ago. For the purposes of this setup, lets assume he steps up, and chips in 0.6 points per game or so next season.

Not a lot Montreal can do without taking "yuge" risks. They have young guys they don't want to trade, and guys they simply can't trade. If Weber retired maybe they could make a UFA, or RFA splash, but I imagine he will stick around.

With some of these vets and progress from their youth, its a team that can be dangerous in the playoffs, but will never be considered a favourite, and likely continue having to fight just to make the Post.


Montreal's strength and weakness is the same; their top three lines are pretty much interchangeable in who is considered 1, 2, or 3. There is some depth, but no high-end scoring whatsoever.

I would like to have Toffoli with Suzuki, but at the same time I think he is more capable of filling in Tatar's role and keeping that Danault line rolling. Having Caulfield with Suzuki feels right, but realistically he will be sliding up and down the depth chart, everywhere but Gallagher's slot.

Kulak+Merrill as spares on the back end seems fine. Evans will be in and out with Perry and Staal. I am not really sure Gaudreau would become available, but he's a Quebecer so why not.
