2021 Canucks Aggressive off-season

Créé par: JimBenning
Équipe: 2021-22 Canucks de Vancouver
Date de création initiale: 27 mai 2021
Publié: 27 mai 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Vancouver adds Danault as the 3C, he can kill penalties and help Horvat in a shutdown role on 5v5, with his own line.

Canucks also add Savard, as a replacement for Tanev. He can kill penalties and be a solid Top 6 defensive defensemen.

Canucks trade Roussel to Lou Lamoriello, and retain half salary. It gives Vancouver some breathing room and clears up some cap space.

Canucks also make a deal with Seattle to take Beagle's 3x1 contract if the rumours are true he will not be on LTIR next season. And in-exchange, Canucks give them a 4th round pick and Highmore

Hughes takes a bridge deal at 5x3. Pettersson signs long term at 7.5x8. Edler either takes $1.5M or he can walk, he is a Top 6 D at best. Graovac, Juolevi and Chatfield re-sign.

Canucks take either Kent Johnson or Mason McTavish in the draft, and they join the team in a Bottom 6 role at the end of the season

Danault declines. He already said he has no interest in playing a bottom 6 or defensive role. He wants to be in the top 6.

if the Canucks can get rid of Myers next season, this team instantaneously gets so much better. Target Seth Jones or Ryan Pulock next Free Agency

Danault is one of the best defensive Centers in the league. I highly doubt he said he does not want to play in a defensive role, it is what he does best. And it isn't like he will be stapled to the 3rd line. If he plays well, he can move up to the Top 6 when the Canucks have a lead. But his main role in the team will be to kill penalties and be a shutdown 3C. Danault will also get some time on PP2, and on PP1 if the Canucks have injuries or he heats up

Lou loves his tough, french guys. At $1.5M, I can definitely see him making this deal. And all it costs is a late 4th round pick

Hughes-Schmidt is a solid first pair. Rathbone-Savard is Hughes-Tanev lite. It is a good 2nd pair. The only problem is Edler-Myers, but the Canucks just have to carry them for one more season. If Edler drops off once again, he is likely going to retire or he isn't coming back. And if the Canucks can convince Ryan Pulock or Seth Jones (8x7) to come to Vancouver in Free Agency in 2022, Myers's 6x2 can be moved for a 1st and a prospect (Woo, Utunen, Jurmo...)
