If they are going to retain half of Ladds salary they might as well keep him. Retain salary for a few years sure but for 7 years? Might as well keep the guy and hope he retires early or gets injured a lot so they can put him on LTIR and get the cap savings.

I actually don't mind the base of the trade, but WPG should pay Ladd his full salary. Maybe NY Islanders should get back Dano or someone like that as well and a higher draft pick instead
