Bernier will likely re-sign in Detroit. He recently said he wants to return. Yzerman likely waits until after the Expansion draft to re-sign him. I still think Kenny signs Freddy Andersen.

Who is Michael Bunting and why is he worth $2M? He's a group 6 UFA with a grand total of 26 NHL games to his name. If you offer him a chance to play alongside McDavid, he's probably here for less than a million on a one-year deal. Two if we're extremely lucky. However, I'd prefer to not gamble on a genuine NHL nobody. I very much prefer the likes of Saad or Tatar as the future #1LW.

Wennberg is unnecessary: McLeod has shown that he has the chops to play as the #3C and isn't producing because he's had actual boat anchors for wingers. Likewise, buying Koskinen out is a poor use of his money and only serves to saddle Edmonton with dead cap for two years. Let him play out his deal: he's fine as a back-up. If you're concerned about the financials, send Neal and Russell to the AHL as well to free up an additional $2.1M.

I don't like that the Yamamoto deal walks him to free agency. Very much prefer a shorter deal at a lower AAV.

I agree with everything you’ve said here. Especially about Yamamoto as he’s taken a large step back. Bunting exploded on the scene with Arizona and scored a bunch of goals in few games. Not worth 2 mill but has upside.

Regarding which? I suspect you're referring to Wennberg, which sure there's a case to be had but I'd much prefer you justify your position. I don't think we've seen McLeod-proper given the linemates Tippett has insisted play third-line minutes. I appreciate the increased value in that money going to a top-six winger - who's apt to produce far more than a #3C - than investing down the middle. Part of keeping RNH as the #2LW is to have him as a break-glass-in-emergency pivot. McLeo'd a value deal and should be for the following two seasons. Go bigger on the wingers.

I'm fine for banking on upside but there's a much better argument in favour of Coleman + Saad/Tatar than Bunting. If there's a way out of Kassian via trade that Holland finds appealing then fine, shove all-in on all three forwards and run the three deepest forward lines in the league.

Don't hit publish on your next AGM then if you can't handle criticism.
