Yeah I think I could probably get a bit more value from Landeskog and Barrie too.

I know lol, you mis-understood me.

Adding Nuge would make the team better, makes it harder to tank. So thats why I kept away from aquiring pieces that are good right now.

Well since Nugent is being paid 500k more a year at nearly the same production as Barrie, who is a right-handed D-man (highly-coveted) I think that is a lateral move on the avs part - even though Nug is 2 years younger, he is a centerman coming to a team where the top 2 centers are Mack and Duchene... Avs are looking to build the D, not dismantle and add pieces we have plenty of.

Duchene for Hanifin just isn't enough of a return for the avs - Duchene is a "proven" centerman, where Hanifin is an unproven, although highly regarded and young, D-man. Throw in a draft pick, or possibly a decent 3rd liner and you might have a deal.
