Edmonton got what they wanted: A solid Dman, five years of modest cap certainty. Jets management won the Trouba battle by signing him for two years at a cheap price and missing the playoffs again.

But still, the trade would have helped both Canadian teams. Edmonton's D hasn't been better because of Larsson, but because of Kris Russell. Honestly, I think Trouba would have been better for the Oilers than Larsson because of his potential. On top of that, the Jets could have got an All-Star top line winger in Taylor Hall if they had done this. Not sure why Chevy didn't pull the trigger...
