Pens goaltending has been pretty bad as of late. If jarry starts in the playoffs ...yikes. The D isn’t good enough to go far either. Forward group is solid. To be honest the pens window to win another cup is closed. Good enough to make the playoffs, not good enough to make a deep run.

Agreed. A lot of people are sleeping on pit just like they did to start 2015/16. Pens got off to an awful start in 2015/16, had a coaching change, then started to peak at the right time and headed into the playoffs hot with low expectations as most people pegged pit as a second round exit best case scenario. Sound familiar? Not saying they’re a favourite to win the cup, but I see an awful lot of similarities between the two teams. Especially if pens get healthy and are able to roll all 4 lines.

The D core is absolutely good enough. Pens got a great top 6 with Dumo/Letang, MP/Marino, Matheson/Ceci. Once again, the exact same people said in 2015/16 that the window was closed and the D was not good enough LOL.

Letang was still a top 10 D in 15-16. Dumoulin-letang has not been a good top pairing this season.

Their defense is one of the best in the league by a country mile. Far better than NYI for sure.
Matter of fact, they have the best Dcore in the Metro. Hands down. NYI is not good, BOS sucks, and WSH has a statue and one of the worst defense man in the whole league in Schultz. It's really WSH achilleas heel is their defense.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. The two deepest teams in the metro are PIT and then WSH. Period.
And either one of them has just a good a shot of playing for a cup once they get out the metro as anyone else. God know they aren't losing to over rated teams like TOR. And both these teams have pounded on CAR for years. CAR would be a 4th place team here. But in that weaker division that's where they are. The only other Major roadblock to playing for a cup is TB. But they too have to get out on the ice healthy.

I’m actually good either way - I’d actually prefer the 1st rd exit so its one step closer to trotz getting fired - but if they win I won’t complain. You on the other hand actually think the pens are making a deep run 😂 - all that hype just to be let down. It’s going to suck for you

It’s very comparable actually. Once again maybe watch a game instead of reading charts. Pens vs caps in a 7 game series anything can happen. Both teams are evenly matched. I never said the pens are a lock to go past the second round. I said this team is good enough for a serious run. Whether it will happen or not will depend on many factors, including some luck. In fact, I think any of the 4 east teams can go on a deep run. Couldn’t care less what you think.
