Foligno is washed and he's gotten the crap kicked out of him in shots and chances against 3 years in a row in the playoffs getting markedly worse every year.

yes, because taylor hall actually has really really good play driving numbers. Like much much much better than Foligno that it on another planet. He also has career in line assist rates per 60 on a historically bad team and his goal scoring shouldnt remain at like half his career rate given a better team and better linemates.
at worst, Hall is a zone entry and zone exit wizard who can feed the Leafs scorers at a high end rate (he's never been a great goal scorer) who can contribute significantly with the leafs break out and help keep the puck deep in the other teams zone.
As opposed to foligno who, at best, is an ok net front guy who isnt fast enough to be effective defensively any more but he might hit a guy

LMAO you want Taylor Hall. I'm actually crying LMAOOO You know he's perennial loser who does nothing for teams. A player who makes teams worse around him. Why do you think cup contending teams don't want him but only re-building teams like the Oilers, Devils, Coyotes, and the Sabres LMAO HAHAAHAHAHA

ah yes, a perennial loser who has literally only been on some of the worst teams in the league. clearly that is all his fault and not the fact that the teams have been utter garbage around him. Literally all statistical proof shows that he makes the players around him better, and that all the players around him 95% of the time have been trash, but gotta push that narrative that makes zero sense under any scruteny what so ever.

We don't need another perennial loser where no cup contending aspiring teams want him. He went to Buffalo "to win a cup", which definitely says a lot about him. We all know he went there to get paid. Why do you think he didn't go to the Avalanche, Knights, Lightning, or Bruins? No one offered him a contract

of course he went there to get paid, his options were either get 8 million dollars and then get traded to a contender of his own choosing at the deadline (wow look at that! it's gonna happen!) or take significantly less money from another team. I dont know what to tell you if you dont think that is very smart.
Oh and Yeah, lots of teams offered him a contract, Colorado is known to have offered him less than half the AAV of what buffalo gave him, so why wouldnt a guy who had been under paid for years try to juice his bank account a bit in the mean time?

So he went there to get paid rather than to take a haircut and win with a championship team? Seems like a perennial loser mentality to me and should stay far away from my Leafs. You don't win at the very least playoff rounds with Taylor Halls on your team. Ask the Sabres, Oilers, Coyotes, and Devils. You win playoff rounds with Nick Foligno who bullied the Leafs last season

4 million dollars is a hair cut now? So let's say he took that incredibly extreme hair cut and picked a team, and that team just ate it all season due to injuries, goaltending and general rotten luck. Where does that leave him? Poorer and no close to a championship.
So he goes about being intelligent and gets a guarenteed pay day plus the ability to look at teams through the entire year and pick where he wants to go. So now he knows who has a good shot at going deep and he can use his NTC to say i will only go here or here and he gets literally both the money and the cup chance.

Oh and Foligno has won exactly one playoff series in 10 years. the same amount as taylor hall.
And foligno may have cross checked some leafs players in the back a few times but he got absolutly mauled by them and would have been sent packing if his goalies didnt stand on their heads.

All I'm saying is Taylor Hall won't be a Leaf. Every reporter even said that Dubas isn't looking to add soft skill. He wants another Hyman, not a Nylander

literally no reporter with any credibility has said that. And the only thing they respectful ones have said is that Dubas is trying to get the best forward he can, and the best one that is for sure available is Hall, by a wide wide margin.
And any GM worth a dollar would rather add another nylander than hyman because Nylander is better.

Part of the thread but this is what CJ said: "It doesn't seem at this point barring some kind of injury or another situation cropping up that they're all that interested in a D. I think they'd like a forward that has a bit of an ability to play playoff hockey. A bit more rugged, maybe, than just a skill player."

"i think" so, not actually a sourced quote from the team. also "than JUST a skill player" so, they added a rugged guy in Nash, now they can add a skill guy, or they might want a guy who is both skilled and rugged, and if you've watched Hall at all, you'd know he goes to the rough places on the ice. Also that skilled isnt a word you can use for foligno.
Oh, and "soft" wasnt mentioned once.
Now look at all the quotes that literally name taylor hall as a subject of interest by the leafs.

There is a difference between going for Palmieri and going for a depth piece in Riley Nash. After the Islanders acquired Palmieri, reports were saying that the Leafs were highly interested in him. They wanted to wait on the Islanders to see whether they were going for Hall or Palmieri. They chose the latter. Nash is a depth piece and cap circumvention, Palmieri is a top 6 forward. I think it shows the type of player that Dubas wants to get

Palmieri is significantly better than Foligno, and is basically a 3rd liner who is a power play specialist at this point. Of course the Leafs had interest in him, he'd be a solid depth add, that doesnt mean they werent interested in Hall then or now. the islanders chose Palmieri because Lou is an absolute sucker and not a good GM and bought hook line and sinker when NJ added one of his good ol boys in zajac to go with him (zajac is very bad so this is hilarious).
the simple fact that Hall is still very good is why dubas would be interested in him

that isnt even remotely true, literally every stat shows that he is a great 2 way player with bad shooting luck this year. And yes, even the eye test this year shows that.
If you want a liability at both ends of the ice, you get yourself foligno
