Yeah I think he's too much of a perfect 3rd line player, gritty, hard on the forecheck, good in his own zone, 200 foot player. Kind of guy every team would want. He can help top 6 if needed too.

He is such a unique player and has so many different roles with the Pens. I would say if you offered Mangiapane it might get things going considering his age and offensive ability. But in reality they aren't going to trade him.

Funny because there were a lot of people at the time that HATED this signing because there were some charts that said it was bad. Then they actually watch him play and say oh wow he brings a lot to the table. Same thing happened this year with Ceci.

I personally just wish that he came at a cheaper price tag, even say 2.5-3 million. GMJR just has this obsession with signing players to contracts with absurd cap hits and length. I liked everything about the signing other than the cap hit lol. You would think that a longer-term contract would garner a lower salary, but nope. Just looks at that ridiculous Hornqvist contract or oh God, Jack Johnson...

No, people didn't like the 6 year deal given his age, lack of scoring punch, and style of play. It seemed like a long investment into a player who might be a huge drag in the final few seasons. His advanced statistics were very strong in Winnipeg.
